Welcome to my Insanity vs P90X article. You know: you have to become more physically fit and move towards improving your overall health. You have tried to lose weight and improve your muscles tones with traditional weight loss programs but you had limited success. With so many different exercise programs available, how do you know which one you should choose?
Insanity vs P90X: Two Solid Choices
Amongst others there are two very similar programs that I offer to my clients: the P90X and the Insanity Workout. Both of these programs have become very popular with their own cult following. There are benefits and negatives to each of these programs as well. The purpose of this review is to give you a choice between two great programs that could offer you the opportunity to make a long lasting life choice to live healthier, better, and longer.
Insanity vs P90X: The Similarities
An “Insanity vs P90X” article should have many levels of comparison. Both of the programs focus on cardio methods of exercise, some focus on diet, the “whole body” work out, the time frame of the program, the type of program, and the effect and duration of the program once completed.
Insanity vs P90X: Cardio
Both programs focus on increasing the cardio systems of the body. These programs continue to build and develop muscle strength, mass and endurance. The exercises involved with both of these programs are repetitive action exercises that will definitely do your body good.
Insanity vs P90X: Diet
Both of these programs do have some dietary requirements. Both have recommended plans you should follow. This is where the similarities end. I will discuss this later.
Insanity vs P90X: The Whole Body
Looking closely into the exercise programs for both the P90X and the Insanity Workout, repetition of basic exercises creates long term success and muscle building. The need to create a habit or system for success within these exercise parameters links these programs together nicely. Additionally, because both programs do not require large amounts of equipment, a complete body focus is one of the major criteria for success.
Insanity vs P90X: Time
Both programs have a specified time frame that determines maximum effectiveness. These time frames are not the same, however, they are similar. Each program requires at a minimum a daily commitment of approximately 1 hour. There are systems in place with both of these programs that creates natural stopping points for the exercises that builds upon the natural repetition of the exercise regimen.
Insanity vs P90X: The Program
Each program has been created by a successful personal trainer. Both P90X and the Insanity workout have been proven to be successful. The techniques of both developers has been made quite obvious through the specialty DVD packaging and documentary that is both motivating and encouraging.
Insanity vs P90X: Duration and Time
Most people that find themselves trying one of these proven methods must understand they must continue to work on the program to ensure long term, lifetime success. Failure to follow these regimens as daily habits will lead to weight gain, loss of muscle mass, and decreased health, energy and self-esteem.
Insanity vs P90X: The Differences
To the uniformed man or woman, these programs would seem to be nearly identical. They both have many positive reviews, strong followings and a tremendous level of general knowledge that has been disseminated into the real world. However, upon closer review of the Insanity Workout and the P90X the differences become much more obvious. These differences are: types of exercise, diet and nutrition, time frames in the program, and the expectation of the programs.

Insanity vs P90X: Types of Exercise
The Insanity Workout typically uses the more traditional forms of exercise. The body itself becomes the main equipment used as you attempt to build muscles mass, endurance and strength through resistance training. The P90X does require some limited equipment such as dumbbells and weight resistance materials.
Insanity vs P90X: Diet and Nutrition
The Insanity Workout works best when you are taking supplements and vitamins. Adding additional smart calories from protein bars can add the missing nutrients you may not be receiving from “normal food” items. In the Insanity Workout removing all bad or empty calories from processed/refined sugars and flours, candy, soft drinks and the likes is essential. Quantity of good food is paramount. The P90X requires a specific diet plan that includes many of the components of the Insanity Workout.
Insanity vs P90X: Time Frames
The Insanity Workout has an exercise regimen that builds upon the standard warm up, main workout and a cool down program. What is contained in these areas are specific break components that allows the body a chance to rest and recuperate at specific times. On the other hand, the P90X is best described as a total minute to minute workout designed to build your muscle mass – few breaks happen in P90X. Additionally the Insanity Workout should be completed in 60 days; the P90X in 90. The Insanity Workout also has minute by minute breakdowns for specific parts of the exercise.
Insanity vs P90X: The Expectations
The primary difference in this Insanity vs P90X battle relies upon what your expectations are of being in the program. Those who decide to try the P90X program should be the healthier, more determined men and women who have already reached or are close to reaching their optimal body size and shapes. The P90X is not designed for quick, rapid, weight reduction. Its focus is maintaining the form, strength, and endurance of the body. The Insanity Workout has the principle behind it that helps its user reach the optimal body size.
For the untrained observer, it would be quite easy to mistake these two exercise programs as being almost identical. However once you know what to look for, the differences between the P90X and the Insanity Workout clearly show them to be unique programs designed for different body types and with different expectations. Neither one is better than the other; the only difference between Insanity Workout vs P90X is whether or not you have reached your ideal or optimum body mass. Like most of my clients just starting out, the Insanity Workout will be the stepping stone to the P90X.
